Original oil painting on stretched canvas, measuring 40 × 40”. Fixed with hanging wire, ready to display, and finished with protective varnish.
Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos, the goddesses of destiny. Responsible for spinning, measuring, and cutting the thread of life, respectively.
For this piece I wanted most of the elements to lean into the narrative. The blackthorn bush is a symbol of destiny, the small dove constellation represents the dove often associated with the Moirai, and the thin threads connecting the three women are, of course, the strings of fate.
The strings being so fine reflect the delicate nature of life and unpredictability of our fates.
